To NaBloPoMo or No?

November is nearly upon us, which means it’s nearly time for NaBloPoMo (and NaNoWriMo! But I am definitely not up for writing a novel next month!).

As far as I can interpret, National Blog Posting Month is a blog event in which participants commit to posting every day for the entirety of the month. While this goes on year-round, November is the big-man, well-known period of time. Have I got that right?

I’m undecided as to whether to participate or not. I’m excited to have the motivation to post more frequently (while I’ve done pretty well keeping up with “I Made That!” Mondays, I feel I’ve waned in other posts a little in the wake of blogging 101). I think the commitment of signing up to post every day for a month would be good for me, but I also don’t want to overwhelm my followers with a bunch of posts. Especially as posting something different every day worries me in terms of their quality, what if I post thirty times, but only eight of them are any good? I’m not sure I want to post a month’s worth of potential tat. But then I guess anything I post has that worry attached to it!

I considered varying it a little, posting photos and quotes for some days instead of a month full of long prose-style posts.

Has anyone participated in NaBloPoMo before? How did you find it? Did these things worry you?

  1. I didn’t even know what the heck it was until I read this post! Thanks! Lol! Go for it, I think it’s good practice. I would consider it, but I signed up for 201 and I’m a week and a half behind already! 😦

  2. You summed up my thoughts precisely! While I’m sure I would benefit from the discipline of daily writing I admit I rebel against feeling forced to do it, and I worry about the quality as well. I like your idea of posting photos and quotes some days to break things up. If you feel like you want to do it I’d say go for it…you won’t scare me away! 🙂
