I mentioned not long ago about my awesome short new hair. The one thing I’ve been finding with it is my constant desire for new headbands! There’s just something about short hair that makes a headband look even cuter!
So I decided to get out my machine and make a few up, to decorate my new ‘do!
Since I really enjoyed planning out and designing my own project last time I thought I’d try it again!
So essentially I measured my head and came up with an arbitrary proportion of this measurement to be casing for the elasticated portion.
I then sewed fabric rectangles into two tunnels, sewed the elastic into one of them, and then sewed them together! Pretty simple!
Then I decided it looked a little bit bland so quickly added a cute little bow to the side to jazz it up a bit. Done. A very easy project! This definitely took me less than an hour, which was great, because once I got started I couldn’t stop!
I ended up making another two that afternoon just because I had the craftin’ bug! You might recognise the top one from the not-so-reversible bag I made using my travel-themed fabric! The yellow one is made from a beautiful fat quarter I got free with my subscription to Love Sewing! I also got another one in blue, can’t wait to get on and make something with that one too!
Notes for Next Time
- Possibly make the elastic tunnel a slight bit smaller than the tunnel for the rest of the headband so it fits neatly inside when you’re sewing the two sections together
- Try decorating with other things too! Fabric flowers? buttons? The possibilities are endless!
I’ll definitely be making more of these in the future! And because I was so proud of them I’m considering making this project the first that I write a tutorial for you guys (or anyone else!) to be able to make one too.
Happy Crafting, Everyone!
