It’s my favourite blog series! On the 12 days leading up to Christmas Eve I’ll be sharing with you some of my favourite Christmas-based crafty activities from all over the internet. (Most of them will be – or have been – tried by yours truly!)
On The Second Craft of Christmas, I will share with you:
I loved these from the moment I spotted them on Pinterest. I am an avid hat fiend, and bobble hats for the winter are my particular favourite, so these cute little miniatures really hooked me.
I followed the tutorial I found here at Easy Peasy and Fun, which was really simple – even more so than I thought it would be. I envisioned an hour or so of wrapping the little bits of wool around the ring, but instead I finished one in 20 minutes – and a good portion of that was trying to keep my kittens away from it!
The second took even less time because I knew what I was doing by then. I now want to go out and buy wool in all different colours so I can make an array of these!
The timing all depends on the size of your cardboard ring I suppose. The ones I used were super small – cut from a loo roll – but the larger your card the more time it will take to cover it in wool (and the longer the strip of wool needed!)
They’re so versatile, you can literally make them in any colour, just as long as you have the wool. Once I had the hang of it I tried my hand at a stripy candy-cane number to change it up and I love it!
The tutorial also suggested this as a great method for making doll hats, which is a fabulous idea. You could deck out the barbies in an array of stylish winter headgear.
That’s day 2! I think I’ll be playing with pinecones tomorrow!
So that’s what I’ve been working on, how about you? Have you tried your hand at homemade decorations?
