On the 12 days leading up to Christmas Eve I’ll be sharing with you some of my favourite Christmas-based crafty activities. (Most of them will be – or have been – tried by yours truly!)
If you’ve been naughty this year, then today’s craft is for you!:
On The Seventh Craft of Christmas, I will share with you:
I wanted to make some yummy treats, but I was all baked out from making mince pies last week. So I decided to give this “coal” a try. The recipe is an easy (emphasis on the easy!), tasty one from Mallowandco.com and you can find it here!
No baking, and such a simple process! It just involves coco pops, oreos, butter, marshmallows, vanilla and food colouring. A bit of heat and mixing and you have some cool themed snacks!
I must admit, on first melting the marshmallow, I wasn’t that sure about it. It did look a little…messy.
But after persevering and adding a little dye, they turned out pretty good!
This recipe has fast and easy payoff – just what you want at Christmastime. Yummy themed treats without hours of slaving to make them. I wouldn’t mind being naughty if this is the kind of present I get this year!
The only thing I would say about this recipe is that I used a single small sachet of black food colouring and it wasn’t quite enough – you can still see brown coco pops peeking through. I didn’t have any more! It’s not the end of the world as they’re brown, so they don’t show up too much, but the coal itself isn’t completely black. If you would like to make fully black coal, I advise you use more (or have more than enough on hand to adjust to the right colour!)
I would definitely recommend this recipe one to all. Maybe make some for the naughty people you know!
Have you been naughty or nice this year? Will Santa be leaving coal in your stockings next weekend?
